The head of Tesla and SpaceX and the world's richest person, Elon Musk, decided to abandon the idea of joining the board of directors of "Twitter", in which he bought a stake last week.

Today, Monday, the general manager of the social network, Parag Agrawal, wrote in a tweet via Twitter, "Elon Musk has decided not to join our board of directors."

And he explained in a message addressed to Twitter employees, which he posted on the platform, that “Elon Musk’s accession to the board of directors was supposed to officially enter into force on the ninth of April, but Elon informed us this morning that he will not join the board,” according to AFP.

"We have always valued and valued the participation of our shareholders, whether they are on our board or not. Elon is our biggest shareholder and we remain open to his participation."

In early April, Musk announced that he had acquired a 9.2% stake in the Twitter social networking platform, becoming the company's largest shareholder.

In the document, which he sent to the SEC, he clarified that his participation is "passive", meaning that he does not intend to influence major strategic decisions at Twitter.

It is worth noting that Musk is very active on the Twitter platform, as he posts tweets almost daily to his 80.5 million followers.

Since announcing his acquisition of a stake in the network, Musk has not stopped provoking, according to AFP.

The French agency said that Musk published an opinion poll on his account in which he asked Twitter users whether they would like the network to add an "edit" button to correct any tweet after it was published.

Approximately 4.4 million accounts participated in the vote, and nearly 73% of them answered "yes".

The platform later announced that it is testing this feature that many users have been asking for for years.

On Saturday, Musk questioned, in his provocative way, whether the Twitter network was on the verge of "death" due to the presence of many accounts with millions of followers, but they were not active.

The newspaper "Washington Post" reported that many employees expressed concern about Musk's joining Twitter, especially considering that the values of this richest man in the world do not correspond to the professional culture of this social network.
