The Argentine national team captain and Inter Miami striker hinted at the possibility of retiring from international football.
When asked about his country's upcoming match against Venezuela after his team Inter Miami's 3-1 win over Orlando in the Leagues Cup semifinals, Messi said, "Yes, it will be a special match. A very special match for me because it's the last one in the qualifiers," according to the Argentine website Mundo Albiceleste.
"I don't know if there will be a friendly or other matches after that, but yes, it's a very special match, and that's why my family will be with me," Leo continued.
He continued: "My wife, my children, my parents, my brothers, and as many of my wife's relatives as possible, and we will experience the experience that way. After that, as I said, I don't know what will happen. We're all going with a winning mentality."
The Argentine national team will face Venezuela on September 4 in a World Cup qualifier.
Press reports indicate that Messi, 38, is likely to retire from international football after the 2026 World Cup.
