The Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport signs a memorandum of understanding with the Somali Ship Registration Company Limited.

 The Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport of the Federal Government, Mr. Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur, signed a Memorandum of Understanding today with the Director General of the Somali Ship Registration Company Limited, Mr. Chagdash Oykon Saltash, to establish a national registry for Somali ships. This initiative aims to enable ships to fly the Somali flag, a significant step reflecting the government's commitment to developing and modernizing its maritime sector.

Minister Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur explained that this agreement will contribute to creating new investment opportunities, generating employment, and enhancing the standing of the Somali flag by leveraging the expertise of international partners.

In closing, the minister stressed that this step represents a new strategic measure through which the “National Interest” government will enhance the administration and reputation of Somalia, enabling it to join the countries competing in the field of maritime transport and related services at the international level.
