Regarding dietary errors in Ramadan, Dr. Tariq Al-Bilaly, a consultant in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and therapeutic nutrition warned against a group of habits practiced by fasting people during the iftar period, saying: “The beginning of Suhoor, in which it is necessary to stay away from foods full of salt, and focus on foods rich in water, which It helps the body during the fasting period.
Al-Bilaly added in an interview with "Sky News Arabia": "It is forbidden to drink water before the start of fasting, specifically in the last hour before dawn, because its harm is more than its benefit, as the body gets rid of it quickly, in addition to causing pressure on a group of devices due to the excess water." It is to drink water during breakfast and more than once.”
The therapeutic nutrition consultant explained that: "Fruits rich in water and beneficial elements for the body should be eaten during breakfast hours, such as apples, watermelon and cantaloupe, along with natural juices, and avoiding any manufactured juices and soft drinks."
Al-Bilaly stressed that "one of the wrong habits that fasting people fall into is drinking cold water directly at breakfast and on an empty stomach, because it constricts the blood vessels that reach the stomach, and causes contractions that have negative effects on digestion and irritate acidity."
