The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister arrives in Mogadishu
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Envoy of the Russian Government to the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov, arrived on Saturday in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and he and his accompanying delegation were welcomed at the capital’s airport by his Somali counterpart, Mr. Ishaq Mohamed Mursal.
During his visit to Somalia, the Russian official is expected to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in the fields of politics, economics, education, health, economic development and development projects that can be implemented jointly between Somalia and Russia.
Bogdanov pointed to the Russian government's interest in strengthening its historical relations with Somalia, expressing Moscow's readiness to support peace, development and stability efforts in Somalia.
For his part, Deputy Minister Ishaq Mahmoud Mursal thanked Bogdanov for his visit, noting that it is a good opportunity for the two countries to continue developing their relations to benefit the common interests of the two peoples.
