Gulf Cooperation Council seeks to help Somalia

 The countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council called for the necessity of concerted efforts and the solidarity of the international community to lift the humanitarian crisis experienced by Somalia and mitigate its effects on the Somali people and its repercussions on human rights.


In a speech before the Human Rights Council delivered by the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsin bin Khathela, she called for strengthening efforts and intensifying humanitarian support provided to Somalia; In an effort to alleviate humanitarian challenges and enhance the human rights situation.


The countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council affirmed their support and standing by the government and people of Somalia, in a way that achieves prosperity and stability, ensures its fulfillment of its obligations under international law, and preserves human rights in it.


She praised the unremitting efforts and endeavors of the Government of Somalia to improve the human rights situation on its territory, and its permanent cooperation with international human rights mechanisms, noting the magnitude of the challenges facing Somalia from terrorist threats, famine, and severe drought, which leads to the instability of human rights.
