A high-level delegation headed by the Minister of Internal Security in the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartag), arrived in Baidoa, the interim capital of Southwest Somalia, on Monday for a working visit focusing on security assessments.

The Minister and his accompanying delegation were received at Baidoa Airport by the Minister of Security in Southwest State, Hassan Abdulqadir Mohamed, along with senior security officials and the Mayor of Baidoa. The visit aims to strengthen ongoing security operations in Bay region, assess current challenges, and enhance cooperation between federal and regional authorities in light of the ongoing threats posed by Al-Shabaab militants.

Among those accompanying Minister Fartag were Deputy Foreign Minister Ishaq Mahmoud Mursal and Deputy Minister of Planning Mohamed Adam Mohamed, both of whom are senior figures in the federal government.

The Interior Minister is expected to hold a series of high-level meetings with the leadership of the Southwest State, security chiefs, and local officials. He will also inspect key government facilities and military sites, reviewing the progress made in joint operations against extremist groups.

This visit comes within the framework of Somalia's broader national efforts to stabilize conflict-prone areas, deepen regional federal cooperation, and ensure long-term peace and good governance.
