President Hassan Sheikh chairs the meeting of the National Security Committee
On Saturday, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, chaired a meeting of the National Security Committee that focused on accelerating efforts to eliminate terrorist groups. It also focused on strengthening cooperation between government security agencies and preparing for the New York Security Conference on Somalia.The committee heard a briefing from army commanders and praised the Somali people for their cooperation with the security forces who work day and night to protect the Somali people. The committee also praised the victories of the Somali National Army on the battle fronts and how it liberated several areas from Al-Shabaab terrorists in areas such as Mudug, Galgadud, Hiran and Middle Shabelle.
The committee praised the army’s strengthening of the local forces’ fighting spirit, liberating their homes from terrorist militants, and completing the first phase of the attack against Al-Shabaab militants and eliminating their remnants in Hirshabelle and Galmudug states.
