The President discusses the security situation in the country with the military leadership
On Thursday, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud chaired a meeting with officers and commanders of the national army and police, to discuss the security situation in the country. The President of the Republic praised the government soldiers who succeeded in expelling Al-Shabaab militants from large areas of the country since the start of the attack last year.President Mahmoud, who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, listened to a report from the National Army leadership about the first phase of the liberation operation. The report indicated that implementing the short-term plan would lead to the liberation of the remaining areas under the control of Al-Shabaab.
The meeting was attended by Defense Minister Abdulqadir Mohamed Nour, Army Commander, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin, Somali Police Commander, General Salub Ahmed, and other leaders.
