The Somali President arrives in Asmara on a two-day official visit

 Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud arrived on Monday in the Eritrean capital, Asmara, on a two-day official visit. Upon their arrival at Asmara International Airport, the Somali President and his accompanying delegation received a warm welcome from President Isaias Afwerki.

During the visit, President Mahmoud is scheduled to meet his Eritrean counterpart to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and discuss regional and international issues of common interest.

This visit comes in light of the escalation of tension between Mogadishu and Addis Ababa against the backdrop of the maritime agreement signed between Ethiopia and the separatist region of Somaliland.
