The Somali President visits Uganda

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in the Ugandan capital, Kembala

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, today, Saturday, on a working visit aimed at strengthening relations between Somalia and Uganda.

The President, accompanied by Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohammed Nur, received at Entebbe International Airport the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, General Jeje Odongo.

President Mohamud is scheduled to meet with his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, to discuss the upcoming withdrawal of African peacekeeping forces from Somalia, which is supposed to take place on December 31. It should be noted that Uganda has been playing a key role in the security strategy in Somalia since 2007, when it was the first country to send forces there.
