President Hassan Sheikh Urges Stronger Governance, Chairs Weekly Cabinet Meeting

President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today chaired the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, which focused on accelerating governance reform plans and improving the delivery of public services across the country.

During the session, the President urged cabinet members to strengthen cooperation, accountability, and transparency in the execution of government functions.


The meeting also reviewed significant progress achieved in the areas of security, economy, and state-building. It was highlighted that in the past six months, Somali security forces have eliminated a record number of Al-Shabaab militants and enhanced the arming and training of national forces.


Furthermore, the Council discussed projections for the 2026 national budget, which is expected to increase, with the additional funds earmarked for key social sectors including healthcare, education, and other essential public services.


In his closing remarks, President Hassan Sheikh called on all ministers to actively participate in the ongoing democratization efforts, reaffirming the importance of strengthening public trust, consolidating state institutions, and promoting national unity.
