Elon Musk said Tuesday that he is developing a Wikipedia competitor through his artificial intelligence company, XAI, announcing plans to launch a platform called GroKedia.
Musk , who owns the social media platform X, said the new service would be a "huge improvement" over the online encyclopedia, which has long relied on volunteer input and editing.
The billionaire has long accused Wikipedia of political bias, claiming it reflects left-wing views. Musk himself is increasingly aligned with right-wing positions.
David Sachs, a Musk ally recently appointed by President Donald Trump as his administration's commissioner for artificial intelligence, criticized the use of Wikipedia content to train AI programs shortly before Musk's announcement.
The name "Grokipedia" comes from XAI's chatbot, " Grok ," which Musk described as "a truth-seeker at its best."
However, Grok has sparked controversy in recent months after making anti-Semitic statements, which Musk's company attributed to a programming flaw.
