A tough group awaits Somalia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers placed Somalia in a tough group alongside Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Gambia in Group C. This marks Somalia's first-ever appearance in the group stage of the qualifiers, a historic achievement for Somali football on the continental stage.The draw ceremony took place on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt, with officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and representatives from the participating teams in attendance, including a delegation from the Somali Football Federation.
The qualifiers included 48 teams divided into 12 groups of four, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the continental tournament finals. The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals are scheduled to be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, a first in the tournament's history, from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
