Somali Police Force Leads High-Level Security Meeting to Strengthen Border Protection and Inter-Agency Cooperation.
The Somali Police Force Commissioner, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, chaired a high-level security meeting in Mogadishu focused on strengthening inter-agency cooperation to secure Somalia’s borders and enhance national security.
The meeting brought together key representatives from Somalia’s domestic security institutions and international partners. Among the participants were Mr. Mustafe Dhuxulow, Director of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA), and the Director-General of the Finnish Immigration Service, who was on an official visit to Somalia.
Also present were senior officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Somali Police Coast Guard, and the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Mogadishu — reflecting a unified and multi-sectoral approach to national security challenges.
Discussions during the session centered on enhancing intelligence sharing, coordinating joint operations, and strengthening border control mechanisms. The participants emphasized the importance of collaboration and information exchange among agencies to effectively counter cross-border threats and organized crime.
Commissioner Asad underscored the Somali Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of the nation’s borders, noting that sustained cooperation between national and international partners is essential for long-term stability and development.
The forum concluded with a shared commitment to develop a comprehensive framework for continuous coordination between domestic security bodies and their global counterparts. This initiative marks a significant step towards creating a unified front to protect Somalia’s borders and reinforce the country’s overall security architecture.
