Somalia and Yemen discuss enhancing cooperation in maritime and air fields.

Aden - Yemeni Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Hamid, held a meeting in the interim capital, Aden, with the Somali Ambassador to Yemen, Abdul Hakim Mohammed, to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the maritime and air transport sectors.

During the meeting, Minister Hamid emphasized the depth of the historical relations between Yemen and the Federal Government of Somalia, highlighting shared interests in the social, economic, and security fields. He noted that the two countries enjoy solid relations based on mutual benefits.

Dr. Hamid expressed the Ministry of Transport's readiness to enhance trade and economic exchange between the two countries. He also indicated his support for operating direct flights via Somali Airlines and granting operating licenses that would benefit citizens of both countries.

The Minister stressed the importance of enhancing trade activities between the two countries' ports and cooperating to combat the illicit trafficking of weapons and other illicit goods from parts of the Horn of Africa to Yemen.

For his part, the Somali Ambassador to Yemen, Abdul Hakim Mohamed, thanked the Yemeni government and the Ministry of Transport for their efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation.

He said, "I would like to thank the Yemeni government and the Ministry of Transport for their efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation."
