Planting trees at Mogadishu Municipality headquarters as part of the “Green Somalia” initiative
The Benadir Regional Administration, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, concluded the National Tree Planting Week activities by planting a number of trees at the Mogadishu Municipality headquarters. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to promote environmental rehabilitation and implement the "Green Somalia" initiative.Officials from the Benadir Regional Administration confirmed that the tree-planting campaign covered various areas of the region last week, as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at expanding green spaces in the capital, Mogadishu. They also noted the ongoing implementation of environmental programs to support sustainability and improve the urban landscape.
The Deputy Governor of Banadir for Public Affairs, Abdulmajid Tahir Adam, the Secretary-General, Bilen Beli, and the Director of the Water and Environment Department, Mahad Abdi Farah, explained that the campaign comes within the framework of the local administration's participation in national initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and raising community awareness of the importance of afforestation.
For his part, the State Minister of Environment and Climate Change, His Excellency Ahmed Omar Mohamed, praised the role of Banadir Governorate in the success of the event, emphasizing that the partnership between government institutions reflects the government's commitment to strengthening environmental protection and addressing the challenges of climate change through expanding afforestation programs.
