The Minister of Information leads a tree-planting event at the ministry headquarters and urges a comprehensive green revolution.
The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism headquarters in Mogadishu hosted a large-scale tree-planting event today, presided over by Minister Daoud Awais Jama, as part of the Federal Government's major national campaign to promote environmental sustainability across all official institutions.During the inauguration ceremony in the ministry's courtyard, the Minister emphasized the national significance of this initiative, stating, "The tree-planting program represents a major strategic asset for both our environment and our nation. We do not want these efforts to be limited to Mogadishu; rather, we encourage all Somali citizens in all regions to actively participate in planting trees to ensure a greener future for the country."
This initiative is part of a comprehensive campaign overseen by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Mr. Bashir Mohamed Jama, which has garnered high-level political support following the planting of the first sapling by the Prime Minister, Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, at the Prime Minister's office, reaffirming the government's commitment to combating desertification.
Minister Daoud aims, through his ministry's leadership of this initiative, to set an example in climate action and utilize media tools to raise public awareness about the importance of afforestation. This will contribute to expanding green spaces and addressing the environmental challenges facing Somalia, in line with the Federal Government's vision.
