 The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, His Excellency Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye, received a high-level government and parliamentary delegation at the Ministry headquarters today to participate in a tree-planting event as part of the National Afforestation Initiative.

The delegation included the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Mr. Bashir Mohamed Jama, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Jamal Mohamed Hassan, and several members of the Federal Parliament. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to combat desertification, reduce deforestation, and restore the country's aesthetic and environmental landscape, in line with sustainable development plans.

During the event, officials emphasized the pivotal role of afforestation in protecting the environment and adapting to the challenges posed by climate change. They called upon all segments of society and national institutions to actively participate in campaigns to increase green spaces, given their direct impact on food security and ecological balance.

This event reflects the level of coordination and integration among sovereign and service ministries within the Somali government to solidify a culture of environmental conservation and build a green and sustainable future for the Republic of Somalia.
