The President of the Republic witnesses the launch of oil exploration operations in Mogadishu
Official oil exploration operations were launched in Mogadishu yesterday with the arrival of the drillship "Chagari Bek" at the port, in the presence of His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and senior government officials.In his address during the welcoming ceremony, the President affirmed that this step represents a strategic shift in the country's economic development trajectory, one that will enhance investment opportunities and create new jobs, thus contributing to the strengthening of the national economy.
His Excellency emphasized the government's commitment to the responsible exploitation of natural resources and ensuring the transparent and equitable management of oil revenues, serving the interests of the Somali people and directing them towards improving essential services and achieving sustainable development.
The President also praised the strong partnership with the Republic of Turkey, commending its role in supporting reconstruction efforts and strengthening Somalia's economic capabilities. The event was attended by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister, the President of Galmudug State, the Governor of the Banadir Region, the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and a number of other ministers, ambassadors, and senior officials.
