The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, today visited the headquarters of the Somali Ministry of Defense, where he met with senior officials of the Somali National Army.
The purpose of the President's visit was to observe the working procedures of the Ministry and the General Command of the Somali National Army.
First, the President greeted the troops and listened to a briefing from the Minister of Defense and Commander Odowa.
The President also met with senior government officials at the Ministry of Defense headquarters to discuss the fight against Al-Shabaab.
The president said new operations will be launched and instructed the Somali National Army to be prepared for those operations.
Meanwhile, security at the ministry's headquarters has been tightened, with most of the streets in Mogadishu closed, affecting residents.
