The exclusion of Russian football from international forums continues until further notice

On Friday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected the appeals submitted by the Russian Football Association and four Russian clubs against the decision of the International Federations “FIFA” and the European “UEFA”, to exclude them from all tournaments until further notice.

Last February, the International and European Federations decided to ban all Russian teams from participating in all championships of the two federations, after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

Last March, the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected the request of the Russian Football Association to freeze the FIFA decision, which effectively banned Russia from participating in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Last May, four Russian clubs, "Zenit Saint Petersburg", "Dynamo Moscow", "Sochi" and "CSKA Moscow", filed an appeal to demand the cancellation of the UEFA decision to exclude them from the tournaments.

The court said that the International and European Football Associations "did not exceed their powers in relation to the decision to prevent Russian teams from participating, in light of the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which caused the emergence of unprecedented conditions, which FIFA and UEFA had to respond to," according to "Reuters".
