“Instagram” retracted its recent update, after users, including celebrities in art, expressed their anger at its resemblance to the “Tik Tok” application, and the update did not receive the desired interaction from users. Instagram has introduced a beta version of the application that displays videos and photos in full screen mode to be more similar to Tik Tok.
Sharp criticism sparked by two reality TV stars. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner demanded that Instagram stop trying to switch to Tik Tok and go back to its original design. But criticism was not the only reason for Instagram to retreat, according to social media expert Mohammed Al-Harthy, who explained this rapid decline with poor viewing and the lack of user interaction with the content after the new design.
In his speech to Sky News Arabia, Al-Harthy considered that "the decline in the volume of interaction is the most dangerous thing that can face any electronic application, because it threatens a gradual decrease in the number of users, and then a decrease in profits, which is what matters most to social networking sites."
Commenting on the decision of the latest application, the director of "Instagram" Adam Mosseri said, in his dialogue with the platform "Platformer", that "mistakes are what guide a person to change his thinking pattern to become better." He added that the Instagram team needed to "take a big step back and rethink how to come up with completely new ideas. We're already working on that."
