Real Madrid striker Vinicius Junior has accused La Liga officials of "doing nothing" about tackling racist abuse from the stands during matches, after he was targeted by Valladolid fans on Friday.

Vinicius published a statement on the Internet after videos on social media showed fans shouting, insulting and throwing things at the Brazilian star in the Real Madrid and Valladolid match, which ended 2-0 in favor of the "Mringue".

Vinicius wrote on Twitter: "Racists continue to go to stadiums and watch the biggest club in the world and La Liga still does nothing about their abuse." He added, "I will continue to play with my head held high, and celebrate my victories and those of Madrid," according to the British newspaper, "The Guardian".

The Spanish League issued a statement condemning all forms of hate speech, and said it was following up on cases of racism in the match. La Liga president Javier Tebas responded to Vinicius with a strongly worded tweet, describing his accusations as "unfair and incorrect."
