 On Thursday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud. President Sisi reiterated Egypt's keenness on Somalia's security, stability, and sovereignty over its lands, and affirmed its support in facing various security and development challenges.

The two presidents reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, welcomed the recent momentum in cooperation between the two countries, and stressed their keenness to expand the horizons of this cooperation to include various sectors in line with the fraternal ties between their peoples.

President Sisi and President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud also discussed the situation in the Horn of Africa region, and stressed their keenness to ensure the security and stability of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden regions, which will reflect positively on the Horn of Africa region and its people.

The two presidents indicated their rejection of any unilateral measures that would undermine regional stability, explaining the importance of all countries in the region committing to cooperation frameworks to achieve stability and development for their people.
