Somalia and Djibouti discuss regional security and the mission of the upcoming African Union mission
The Somali Defense Minister, Abdelkader Mohamed Nur, accompanied by the Commander of the Somali Army, Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin, and a number of military officials, made an official working visit to Djibouti.During the visit, the Somali delegation held a series of meetings with the Prime Minister of Djibouti, the Minister of Defense, and senior military leaders, where issues related to regional security were discussed, in addition to preparations for the next African Union mission in Somalia, scheduled to launch in 2025.
Djibouti forces were part of the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), and Djibouti is keen to participate in the new mission, which is expected to begin in early 2025.
