The President of Somalia confirms that his country stands with the Palestinian people and calls for an end to the war

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, stressed in his speech at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh that his country stands with the Palestinian people and called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages and detainees.

The President urged the international community to come together in a united effort to protect vulnerable people in Palestine, and allow humanitarian aid and life-saving resources to reach those who need it most.

Sheikh Mahmoud stated that the Gaza issue transcends political and ideological divisions; At its core, it is an issue of human rights, dignity and justice. He pointed out that a sustainable and peaceful solution can only be achieved through the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. He explained that this is the only guarantee for the region’s transition to a new era characterized by peaceful coexistence for the benefit of all.

The President pointed out that the escalation of violence in Gaza and its spread to Lebanon is not only disastrous for the people affected, but it is plunging the region and the world into more instability, and he urged bringing hope, security and stability not only to Palestine but to the Middle East and the wider world.
