The Somali Foreign Minister discusses enhancing cooperation with the United Nations Special Representative in Somalia
The Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Somalia and Head of the United Nations Transitional Mission in Somalia, Ambassador James Swan, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
Ambassador Swan congratulated Minister Abdus Salam on his recent appointment, and affirmed the United Nations’ commitment to continuing cooperation with the Federal Government of Somalia. He also reviewed the United Nations transitional plans in Somalia, focusing on governance, elections, human rights, and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Minister Abdel Salam expressed his gratitude for the continued support from the United Nations, and stressed the importance of deepening relations and strategic coordination between the Somali government and the United Nations.
