A delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development arrives in Mogadishu

 A high-level delegation headed by Mr. Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, arrived in Mogadishu today upon an official invitation from the Somali Minister of Finance, Mr. Bihi Iman Agah. 

The visit represents an important milestone in strengthening economic cooperation between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Al-Marshad and his delegation will hold meetings with senior officials in the Somali government to discuss development investment opportunities within the country.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Finance Minister Bihi Iman upon arrival at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu along with the Somali Minister of Energy and Water, Abdullahi Badan Warsame, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mawlid. The Somali officials provided a briefing on the current economic situation in the country and set the agenda for future discussions.

Minister Iman expressed his gratitude to Mr. Al-Murshid for accepting the invitation, saying: “It is an honor to welcome Sultan Al-Murshid and his team to Mogadishu for this historic visit. During their stay, we will engage in crucial discussions to explore investment potential in Somalia and agree on strategies to boost our economic development.”

The Saudi Fund for Development has been a key partner to the Somali government, playing a critical role in the country’s economic reform program. These reforms have contributed significantly to Somalia’s success in relieving its debt burden, paving the way for enhanced financial stability and growth.
