Preparation begins for the national dialogue called for by President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud

A special committee composed of members of the Council of Ministers and other officials from the federal government began its meetings to prepare for the national dialogue called for by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in late last March.

The committee held its first meeting with representatives of civil society organizations, and the two parties exchanged a broad vision, based on how to achieve results from the national dialogue.

The preparation for the dialogue called by the President to discuss critical issues such as the war on Al-Shabaab and the elections comes at a time when political differences between the government and its opponents have worsened, and it is not known how the opposition will respond to this move initiated by the Somali government.
