The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, attended a dinner reception hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in New York, in honor of visiting Heads of State and Government. The event was held to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations, bringing together world leaders in a spirit of multilateralism and global cooperation.
During his participation in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud highlighted the difficult circumstances Somalia has endured over the years, underscoring the resilience of its people and the determination of the government to rebuild the nation. He emphasized that Somalia has made notable progress in enhancing national security, accelerating the fight against terrorism, consolidating democratic institutions, and moving steadily towards the completion of its Federal Constitution.
The President reaffirmed Somalia’s unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and international cooperation, while also calling on the international community to continue supporting Somalia in achieving sustainable development, strengthening governance, and fostering long-term stability across the Horn of Africa.
