The Somali President receives the Finnish special envoy to mediate peace

 Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received, at the presidential palace in Mogadishu, Finland's special envoy to mediate peace in the Horn of Africa region, Sultan Said Ahmed. During the meeting, the President discussed with the Finnish envoy ways to enhance diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, in addition to enhancing peace and security efforts in the region.

A statement issued by the Somali presidency explained that President Mohamud praised Finland's role in supporting peacebuilding initiatives, expressing Somalia's readiness to cooperate more broadly in the areas of security, development and governance reforms.

For his part, the Finnish envoy affirmed his country's commitment to supporting peace and stability in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region through diplomatic engagement and mediation strategies aimed at enhancing long-term stability.
