Liverpool's woes continue with another defeat in the English League Cup

Crystal Palace achieved a valuable and well-deserved 3-0 victory over Liverpool on Wednesday evening at Anfield, to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

This victory is Crystal Palace's third against Liverpool in all competitions this season, after they had previously beaten them on penalties in the Community Shield at the start of the season, then won 2-1 in the Premier League last month. The Dutch coach Rene Slott's team then continued their losing streak in the tournament, losing three consecutive matches.

Crystal Palace took advantage of Slott resting his key players, with Ismaila Sarr scoring the first and second goals for the visiting team in the 41st and 45th minutes respectively.

Liverpool's woes were compounded when they were forced to play with ten men after Amara Nallo was sent off in the 79th minute, before Yeremi Pinault added Crystal Palace's third goal in the 88th minute.

Crystal Palace are scheduled to meet their guest Cardiff City, a Championship club, in order to secure a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle United also qualified for the same round , after they all overcame the obstacle of the round of 16. Arsenal won 2-0 against their guest Brighton, while Manchester City won 3-1 against their host Swansea City, a Championship club, and Chelsea beat their host Wolverhampton 4-3, while Newcastle overcame their guest Tottenham Hotspur with a 2-0 victory.
