The agreements were signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education, Livestock, and Oil, and focus on strengthening cooperation in the areas of trade, education, agriculture, livestock, oil and natural gas, in addition to facilitating the travel of Somali diplomats, who will receive an entry visa upon their arrival in Algeria.

Following the signing ceremony, President Hassan Sheikh Sheikh Mohamud affirmed that these agreements establish a strategic partnership that will benefit both countries and the Somali and Algerian peoples.

Sheikh Mahmoud thanked the Algerian president and people for their welcome and support for Somalia, noting the important role that Algeria plays in defending the interests of the African continent and supporting friendly countries.

President Hassan Sheikh also thanked his Algerian counterpart for providing 500 scholarships, which will benefit Somali students, particularly in key disciplines related to agriculture, fisheries, and oil.

The Somali President praised President Tabun’s leadership in implementing the “African Solidarity and Cooperation Fund”, noting that it is a visionary initiative that promotes solidarity and development in the African continent, and that Somalia looks forward to being among the countries benefiting from this fund.
