New leaks have revealed that Apple is planning to launch its first foldable phone, with innovative technologies to compete with leading companies in this field, Samsung and Google.
Jon Prosser, a YouTuber known for his Apple leaks , shared a 3D design of what he claims is Apple's first foldable device to be released next year.
"Next year you will only see 3 new iPhones: the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and this is the new foldable iPhone, which will probably be your old iPhone," Prosser said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Prosser explained that Apple conducted tests on foldable designs and book-like designs, but ultimately settled on a book-like design.
If Prosser’s leaks are true, this will put Apple in direct competition with Samsung and Google, which launched book-shaped foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, in 2025.
These leaks sparked excitement among thousands of Apple fans in the comments.
Several press reports over the past years have stated that Apple is planning to produce a foldable phone, but it now seems almost certain that it will unveil a foldable iPhone in September 2026, according to the British newspaper, the Daily Mail.
Prosser explained: "After years of companies like Samsung leading the way in developing and improving foldable devices, Apple finally decided that 2026 was the right time to do the same."
Apple plans to produce a phone that stands out from its competitors by addressing the problem of screen creases or wrinkles resulting from frequent opening and closing of the phone.
Prosser said: "One of the major drawbacks of foldable devices, no matter how beautiful the design, is the possibility of seeing and feeling creases in the middle of the plastic screen at the folding joints."
Prosser confirmed that "Apple was able to solve this problem by using a metal plate to distribute pressure on the screen, in addition to adding liquid metal to the joints."
Does "OpenAI" compete with composers and musicians?
The device will look like a regular iPhone, about 9 mm thick, with a 5.5-inch screen, and will be equipped with four cameras: one on the outside, two on the back, and one inside the device.
Regarding security, Prosser claimed that Apple would reintegrate Touch ID technology into the power button instead of Face ID technology.
As for the colors, the company is expected to adopt calm colors in its foldable phone, after it delighted its fans with orange and blue colors in the Pro series. The price may range between $2,000 and $2,500.
