The Digital School, an initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, announced a strategic global partnership with Starlink satellite internet company during the World Government Summit 2026, held from February 3-5. The partnership aims to revolutionize access to high-quality digital education by reaching remote and underserved communities worldwide and establishing an integrated model that combines digital connectivity.

This partnership embodies the UAE ’s leadership in innovating future education solutions and strengthening global partnerships, thereby promoting equal educational opportunities and supporting the future of education .

The global partnership was announced in the presence of Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Vice Chairman of the World Government Summit and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital School. The agreement was signed by Ryan Goodnight, Senior Director of Market Access and Development at SpaceX, and Dr. Waleed Al Ali, Secretary General of the Digital School.

Scientists affirmed that the UAE , through the World Government Summit, continues to consolidate its approach in building quality global partnerships in vital sectors, foremost among them digital education, in the belief that the future of development begins with empowering people with digital knowledge and skills.

The scientists said the partnership with Starlink reflects the UAE’s approach to expanding cooperation with global partners in order to develop innovative solutions that contribute to a broad positive impact on societies, noting that digital connectivity has become a strategic necessity to ensure equitable access to education, especially in remote and disadvantaged areas.

For his part, Ryan Goodnight said: “We are proud to contribute to strengthening the new global model for digital education in the UAE. Starlink’s partnership with the Digital School provides high-speed connectivity to open new horizons for learning and enable students in remote and underserved areas to access integrated digital learning environments, including online learning, instant collaboration tools, global scholarship opportunities, and future career paths, which enhance knowledge and support sustainable growth and empowerment.”

This partnership enables the provision of reliable and high-quality satellite internet and communication methods, while the Digital School undertakes the promotion and dissemination of an integrated digital education system, transforming communication into an organized and accredited educational journey that includes dedicated digital education programs, educational platforms, digital content, and the building of sustainable educational capacities.

The first phase of the initiative aims to reach 100 locations in remote areas around the world, with a flexible design that allows expansion according to the level of impact, readiness, and effective partnerships. The partnership will include enrichment paths in space science, benefiting from the SpaceX system, to stimulate students’ curiosity, enhance their ambitions, and link education to future prospects.

Three schools in the Kingdom of Lesotho have been equipped with reliable Starlink connectivity, along with integrated digital education systems provided by the Digital School, including computers, a dedicated digital learning platform, digitization of national content, and comprehensive teacher training programs, ensuring a systematic, sustainable, and measurable educational impact.

Starlink is the world’s most advanced satellite system in low Earth orbit, providing reliable broadband internet connectivity capable of supporting streaming services, online gaming, video calls, and more.

Starlink was designed and operated by SpaceX, the world's leading launch services company and the only one with an orbital-class reusable rocket, giving it deep expertise in spacecraft technologies and orbital operations.
