Salah achieves an exceptional record and leads Liverpool to the quarter-finals
The Egyptian star achieved an exceptional feat, becoming the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League, leading his English club Liverpool to a resounding 4-0 victory over Turkish side Galatasaray on Wednesday in the second leg of their round of 16 tie.The first leg had ended in a 1-0 win for Galatasaray, but Liverpool overturned the deficit with four goals to advance to the quarterfinals with a 4-1 aggregate score. Salah delivered a mixed performance, missing a penalty and a clear-cut chance in the first half before shining in the second, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
The first half ended with Liverpool leading 1-0 thanks to a goal from Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai in the 26th minute, before Salah missed a penalty in the final seconds. In the second half, Liverpool dominated, scoring three goals through Frenchman Hugo Ekiteke, Dutchman Ryan Gaffenberch, and Salah in the 52nd, 54th, and 62nd minutes respectively.
