The Ministry of Petroleum and the US state of Virginia sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of mineral exploration.

 The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State of Virginia in the United States, covering exploration, production, processing, and development of key minerals.

The MoU aims to enhance investment and the exchange of technical expertise. It was signed by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Somalia, His Excellency Tahir Mohamed Shire, and by the Secretary of the Virginia Senate, Mr. Chris Warner.

The MoU stipulates cooperation in the exploration and production of key minerals, the development of mineral processing operations to increase local value, the exchange of technical knowledge and expertise, and the encouragement of investment and trade cooperation between institutions and companies in both countries.

This new partnership also strengthens bilateral relations and cooperation between Somalia and the United States, particularly in the areas of natural resource development, investment and economic growth.
