The Acting President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), today received the new European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Francesca Di Mauro, along with her deputy, Karin Gatt-Rutter.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the House of the People and the European Union, particularly on constitutional review and other key legislative priorities before Parliament.
Ambassador Di Mauro thanked the Speaker for the warm welcome and commended Parliament’s efforts to pass laws critical to state-building. She reaffirmed the EU’s readiness to closely work with the Federal Government and Parliament to enhance both political and technical support.
Speaker Madobe welcomed the new ambassador and briefed her on the ongoing work of Parliament, especially the review of the remaining constitutional provisions and legislation vital for completing Somalia’s state-building process. He underscored the Somali people’s high expectations of their government and parliament, stressing the priority of delivering a complete constitution and effective laws that serve the nation.
