The Speaker of the People's Assembly receives the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations

 The Speaker of the People's Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), received the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, James Swan, at his office. At the beginning of the meeting, the Special Representative briefed the Speaker on the activities of the UN office in Somalia, their support for the government, and the overall work they are undertaking in the country.

For his part, the Speaker thanked the UN Special Representative for his efforts in the country, particularly the support his office provides to state institutions. He, in turn, briefed the Speaker on the work of Parliament, especially regarding the review and completion of the Constitution.

The Speaker of the People's Assembly affirmed that the process of reviewing and finalizing the constitution is progressing well, and that both houses of the Somali Parliament are working on it continuously. At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to strengthen and continue cooperation between the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the United Nations Office in Somalia.
