The Ministry of Health is strengthening preparations and prevention measures against the Ebola virus.
The Federal Ministry of Health is working to strengthen preparedness and monitoring of entry points into the country, including the traveler health form system, laboratories, infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures, community outreach, and coordination through the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC).The Ministry also advises citizens to remain calm, follow official guidelines, wash their hands frequently, immediately report any suspected symptoms, and avoid spreading unverified information.
A ministerial-level meeting was held at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC), where participants discussed the level of preparedness and coordination mechanisms for Ebola prevention.
It is noted that the Somali Ministry of Health has raised the level of health preparedness and monitoring in anticipation of any potential risk of the spread of the Ebola virus, with a focus on border crossings, public awareness and strengthening coordination between the competent health authorities.
