Somali President calls on the people to support the police to eradicate terrorism

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud praised the performance of the national police forces, which succeeded in containing attempts to destabilize security raised by gangs against the residents of the capital, Mogadishu. This came in a speech delivered by the President of the Republic after Friday prayers at the Al-Shuhada Mosque in the Presidential Palace.

President Mahmoud said: "We must join efforts together to eliminate all forms of violence and liquidate terrorist cells that threaten public security in the country." "The army continues to pursue the remnants of al-Shabab militias linked to al-Qaeda in the south and central regions," he added.

It is worth noting that the police in the capital Mogadishu managed during the past few days to stop a number of gangs armed with knives threatening the local residents, and they were referred to the concerned authorities.
