China successfully launched on Friday a reusable spacecraft, according to Chinese media. China State TV reported that Beijing successfully launched an experimental reusable spacecraft with its "Long March" or "Long March-2F" rocket, on Friday.

State television said the unnamed spacecraft, which took off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, will return to a designated landing site after flying in orbit for some time to ensure its technical suitability for reuse, according to Reuters.

China announced that it had taken a big step towards developing reusable space transportation technology, as it launched a spacecraft that returned to Earth on the same day after reaching the edge of the atmosphere last July.

According to Xinhua, the spacecraft will return to a planned landing site in China after its in-orbit operating period, where it will test reusable technologies and service technologies in orbit as planned during the flight, providing technological support for the peaceful use of space. The launch is the 18th mission of the Long March-2F carrier rocket.
