The CEO of Meta, the owner of the instant messaging application “WhatsApp”, Mark Zuckerberg, announced on Tuesday that there are new features that will be added to “WhatsApp”.
Zuckerberg wrote on his official Facebook page that the new features include exiting WhatsApp groups without notifying others, and controlling the “online” status. He added that the third service relates to the prevention of taking a screenshot of messages that can be viewed only once in the application.
Zuckerberg pledged to continue finding new ways to protect users' messages, so they remain "private and secure as if they were a one-to-one conversation." He did not provide any additional details, such as when these services will be activated or how they can be implemented.
Zuckerberg's statement contradicts news reports that WhatsApp is working to let admins and members of the app's groups know who has left or been fired. At the same time, the founder of "Facebook" confirmed previous reports last July that spoke of "WhatsApp" tendency to hide the word "Online".
Zuckerberg's speech appears to be a response to users' repeated requests over the past years to improve the privacy status of WhatsApp. Recently, the demand to hide "online" has been repeated, because it floods some users with annoying messages, especially at night.
