Tik Tok has launched a new feature, under which content creators will be notified when someone prefers their video to the application. From now on, your favourites as a follower on TikTok will no longer be kept secret as it was before, when creators could see how many favourites a video had, but without knowing who liked it.
A spokesperson for TikTok stated to the specialized technical website Mashable, “We are always thinking of ways to add value to the community and enrich the experience of Tik Tok, as we continue to build a safe place that entertains, inspires creativity and drives culture (..) We explore new ways to engage with the community. more deeply.”
For the sake of content creators
Digital media expert and lecturer at the American University in Cairo, Fadi Ramzy, says that "the new feature is in the interest of content makers in the first place, as it enables them to see more accurately and closer all the details of their content, the volume of interaction with it and the quality of the interactions."
Ramzy added, in his speech to "Sky News Arabia", that "getting to know the content creator about the people who interacted with his videos is fruitful for him from two sides, the first is the possibility of a partnership between them in the work in the future, and the other is the content creator acquaintance with the people who follow him continuously. And they owe allegiance to its content.”
Ramzy stresses that Tik Tok has recently and explicitly tended to add features that support content makers, whom he considers the backbone of the platform and its golden goose, where they can attract ads to it, and then make more profits.
Who is browsing your profile?
And last June, "Tik Tok" launched a feature that allows users to see who viewed their profile. But despite a symbolic agreement, although this new feature may make some “Tik Tok” consumers more shy in preferring someone’s content, he believes that judging its success or failure will judge him by experience and days, while he is expected to achieve great success, and competitors will copy it soon.
Ramzi justifies this, that what distinguishes “Tik Tok” is that it offers new features on a permanent basis and a race for all social media, which ensures the success of these features with users, to the extent that its model becomes attractive to its competitors. Last February, "Tik Tok" launched the "Groups" feature, which allows users to organize their favorites in folders, which revolutionized the "Favorites" feature and made it more useful.
