Orion returns to Earth and falls into the ocean

Orion

The Orion capsule crossed the atmosphere back to Earth and fell into the Pacific Ocean, Sunday, ending an uncrewed journey around the moon with which the US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) concluded its "Artemis" exploration program, the first 50 years after the last "Apollo" mission. to the moon.

The capsule plunged into the ocean at 1740 GMT off Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, showing that the astronauts' return trip around the moon over the next few years remains high-stakes. A US military helicopter and a group of speedboats approached the capsule after it fell to conduct inspections, while the USS Portland, a US Navy ship scheduled to transport Orion to San Diego, California, stood about 8 kilometers away.

The capsule's journey took 25 days, during which it rose about 127 km above the moon, and the highest point it reached was about 434,500 km from Earth. The capsule was launched on a (Space Launch System) rocket, which is equivalent to 32 floors high, from its base at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, on November 16, before it separated from the rocket to exit Earth's orbit on its way to the moon.
