The Somali president meets his Eritrean counterpart

 Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud met his Eritrean counterpart, Isaias Afwerki, in Asmara and discussed with him bilateral relations between the two countries and other issues related to the Horn of Africa.

President Mahmoud also discussed the recent victories achieved by the Somali government in the fight against Al-Shabaab and its efforts to intensify military operations.

This visit coincides with an ongoing military training program for Somali soldiers in Eritrea, highlighting defense cooperation between Somalia and Eritrea. The training program has already facilitated the return of trained Somali military personnel to the country and participation in military activities there.
