Prime Minister Hamza meets with the Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean

 The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, met with the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Hanan Balkhi, for a critical dialogue on strengthening the resilience of the health system in Somalia.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of recovery and reconstruction, and emphasized investment in human capital and a strong health workforce as key to the country's socio-economic transformation, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

From a WHO perspective, Dr. Balkhi is committed to supporting quality healthcare, with the aim of making progress in global rankings by improving health governance, workforce development, and enhancing healthcare outcomes, including reducing mortality rates.
