Former Somali PM calls for federal support for regional states

 Former Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has called on the Federal Government of Somalia to strengthen its political and security support to all regional states in their fight against terrorism. 

Sharmarke praised Puntland forces who have launched a military operation aimed at eliminating ISIS fighters, both foreign and local, who are seeking to establish permanent bases in the region.

He also called on the federal government to show political and security support to all its states in order to eliminate the threats of Al-Shabaab and ISIS before the end of 2025. The call by the former Somali prime minister comes at a time when the federal government has remained silent about the ongoing military campaign in the Bari region of Puntland state.
