Eurozone economic growth exceeds expectations in 2024
The euro zone economy grew more than initially estimated at the end of last year, driven by consumer spending and business investment.
Data released on Friday showed that the euro zone economy grew by 0.9 percent in 2024, higher than the previous estimate of 0.7 percent. The euro zone recorded growth of 0.4 percent in 2023.
The region's gross domestic product also increased by 0.2 percent on a quarterly basis during the last quarter of last year. This is double the pace recorded previously, and is what all economists expected except for two experts in a survey conducted by Bloomberg News.
But this represents a slowdown in momentum, which confirms the extent to which the region suffers from uncertainty at home and abroad.
